WhatsApp interface guide

WhatsApp

Use Overseer in WhatsApp if you want a mobile-first chat experience.

This interface is powered by a WhatsApp pairing flow and is best for personal or small-team usage where quick phone access matters.

What WhatsApp supports

  • chat from your phone
  • one active WhatsApp session per configured interface
  • the same agent reasoning and tools as the rest of Overseer
  • user-level routing through the gateway

How it works

Unlike Telegram and Discord, WhatsApp usually needs a first-time pairing step.

During first setup, Overseer creates the WhatsApp session and stores the auth state on disk for that interface. After that, the connection can reconnect using the saved auth state.

Setup Flow

Add a WhatsApp interface

In the dashboard, open Settings → Interfaces and choose WhatsApp.

Save the interface

Save it even if you are still preparing the connection details.

Start the WhatsApp runner

Start the WhatsApp process so Overseer can begin the pairing flow.

Complete pairing

Follow the pairing information shown in your logs or terminal to connect the WhatsApp account.

Good to know

  • WhatsApp is convenient, but the web dashboard is still the easiest place for files, settings, and admin work.
  • If you want a more traditional bot setup, Telegram is usually the simplest option.
